Jeffrey "Jeff" P. Davis, Jr., Pastor

Pastor Jeff Davis accepted a call from First Safety Harbor in August 2022.  He was our guest preacher on August 28th, and he officially began his duties on September 1st.

Jeff is an 8th-generation Floridian.  He grew up in a Christian family, and his parents demonstrated an excellent example of how to show God's love.  He was very involved in youth activities in his family's church.  He attended elementary, middle, and high school in the Clearwater/Safety Harbor area.  During those early years, Jeff knew he was being called to do ministry.

Jeff followed his heart and passion to Florida Christian College where he graduated with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry.  He spent the first 9 years of his career as Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Presbyterian Church in the Highlands in Lakeland.  Later he found his way bay to his roots in Clearwater as Director of Youth and Family Ministry and Church Communications at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clearwater for the last 8 years.

During this time, Jeff felt led to keep growing in his ministry.  With the support and encouragement of Trinity Clearwater, he attended Dubuque Theological Seminary where he completed his Master's of Divinity.  Jeff has been patiently waiting for God's time for him to be called to lead a church as a pastor.

Jeff's passion for the community of Safety Harbor led him to seek the position at First Safety Harbor.  The Holy Spirit led Jeff and the Pastor Nominating Committee members to seek to serve Safety Harbor together as we continue to be a sailboat church for Jesus.

Jeff's wife, Justine, and his 3 children:  Emma (14), Blake (12), and Lukas (10) are excited to embark upon this journey with Jeff as he accepts his first call to pastoral leadership.  He is a passionate fan of all Tampa professional sports, faithfully cheering for the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays.  He also has family ties to the University of Florida and the University of South Florida - so Go, Gators!  and Go, Bulls!

Look for Jeff giving the invocation at Safety Harbor City Commission Meetings and participating with the church family in Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce and Leisure Services events.

Marilyn Cromwell 600x540 jgeditsMarilyn Cromwell, Office Manager

Marilyn began attending First Safety Harbor as a child, attending Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and singing in the Junior Choir. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at First Safety Harbor as a teenager, and she was active in the youth group in junior and senior high school.  While earning an A.A. in Early Childhood Education at St. Petersburg Junior College and a B.A. in elementary education at the University of South Florida, she served in several leadership positions.  She served as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, and Director of Vacation Bible School, Director of the Logos mid-week program, and Elder.  Marilyn later earned an M.S. degree in Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University's satellite campus in Tampa.

Marilyn and her husband, Michael, were married in the church in 1976, and both of their adult children grew up in the church, actively involved in church events and activities.  Her son also served as an Elder.  After 40 years, extenuating circumstances led Marilyn to leave First Safety Harbor in 2003, transferring her membership to Northwood Presbyterian Church for several years before returning to Safety Harbor in 2010.

Marilyn retired on August 1, 2011, after 35 years of service to Pinellas County Schools as a classroom teacher, district resource teacher for struggling student/dropout prevention programs, district resource teacher for K-12 magnet and fundamental school programs, assistant principal, and principal. She enjoys music, sewing, and scrapbooking.  Marilyn serves as volunteer office manager, and she's in the church office for 6-8 hours on Wednesdays.  She works from home on other days as needed, and she can be reached on her cell (727) 946-5319.  On Sunday morning you'll find Marilyn playing the piano for worship (unless she is visiting her daughter's family in Jacksonville or occasionally on a vacation), and she serves as Ruling Elder and Clerk of Session.
